Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools
Bond Issue 5

November 3, 2015

In 2010, the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (formerly the Ohio School's Facilities Commission) noted that South High School was salvageable if significant improvements were made to the building.  Therefore, funds were spent to repair South.

The buckets shown above are collecting water that leaks from the roof in a main hallway.

Roofs, floors, walls, HVAC and electrical systems are in need of repairs.  The plan involves tearing down this building and moving the WMS students to the current South High.  This would provide a safer environment for our children and allow students access to much needed technology.

The sketch below provides an idea of where the new South could be constructed.  It is proposed to be located adjacent to the YMCA and would allow students to remain in their existing building until the construction is complete.

The repaired South building will become Willoughby Middle School.  The OFCC recommended tearing down Willoughby Middle due to the significant decay of the facility.

The following are current pictures of WMS:

In the computer lab below, plastic is used to protect the computers from water damage.
